Show in a Week is back this August with a tale as old as time...
We’re absolutely delighted to be back with our flagship experience, and to once again be performing on the main stage at the MacRobert. The story of Beauty and the Beast is familiar to everyone - the adaptation of the hit Disney film is an amazing show with incredible music and lots of scope for all our cast from the tiniest through to our teens and beyond.
Children will rehearse 10.00am – 5.00pm, Mon – Fri (some principal parts may be invited back to additional rehearsals in the evenings) and perform in three performances of the full show on the Fri/Sat at the Macrobert. All rehearsals will take place at the Macrobert.
Once registered there is no requirement to audition – everyone will play a full part in the show, however for those wishing to audition for solo roles etc, audition info will be given out at registration. As ever with show in a week the cast will be a mixture of our experienced professional adults, teens, and young people where we can. The experience of being part of such a large, varied and supportive team is something that is pretty unique and special to Show in a Week. We do understand that it is a big week for young people, but we do expect all performers to commit to all three performances.
The fee for Show in a Week this year is £170. The fee includes:
- Full time supervised training in music, dance and performance during the times above.
- Participation in complete performances with lights, makeup, band etc on stage at Macrobert.
- Personalised ‘Beauty and the Beast’ t-shirt.
- Full digital photo pack containing individual professional promo photo, copies of all rehearsal / on stage photos and an A3 souvenir poster showing the entire cast.
For those who have more than one child taking part, subsequent siblings will be charged at a reduced rate of £140.
Cost
Now more than ever, we strongly believe that cost should not be a barrier to participation and will always, where needed, offer payment in instalments, fee reductions, or fully funded places. If you would like to speak to us about cost, just drop us a message.
If you need to withdraw from the show for any reason, fees for The Little Mermaid can be refunded in full before the 1st of June, and by 50% before the 17th of July. After this point, we will have incurred significant costs relating to your child’s space, and are unlikely to fill their space in the cast, so the fee is non-refundable beyond this date.
How to Register
Registration will take place at The Victoria Halls, Dunblane, at 9am on Sunday the 2nd February. Having consulted and debated endless ways of managing registration (including online) over the last 19 years we have decided that an ‘in person’ first come first served queue remains the fairest way to allocate places. We will do our best to make this as painless and quickly as possible, but we do ask for your patience. We’ll have tea and coffee on the go as quickly as we can!
We can take cash, cheque or card (cheques made payable to Rubber Chicken Theatre). When registration opens, we will issue numbered tickets to those in the queue corresponding to the number of children you are registering. This means those who are not successful in getting a place do not have to wait longer than is necessary.
Please be aware that registration will not open before 9am: if you arrive earlier than this (as previous years have shown many will), you may have to wait outside (although we’ll try and sort queuing in the corridors as soon as possible.). This year you do not need a form – we will take your child’s name, your email address and payment, then issue a link and password to complete registration online.
Unable to make registration?
If you are unable to make registration we suggest asking someone else attending to register on your behalf. While we fully appreciate no time/date will ever be possible for everyone, unfortunately due to the numbers involved, in order to make the process fair and transparent we are unable to take registrations before Sunday the 2nd.
In the interests of fairness, each person may register up to 3 families on the day. If you are registering another household; you must have an e-mail address and contact details for them; we cannot accept yours in lieu.
If you are unsuccessful in getting a place on the day, you can add your name to the waiting list. You can also do this in advance if you know you are unable to make registration.
Show in a Week Senior: Legally Blonde
We’re aware of how much interest there is for our Show in a Week Senior production of Legally Blonde.
Although we are not opening registration until May, everyone who will be in S1+ by October and who registers for Beauty and the Beast will be guaranteed a space in Legally Blonde.
No payment will be required at this point and we will be in touch nearer the time with further registration details.
Backstage Roles at Show in a Week
We are not yet in the position to confirm how many (or if) backstage roles will be available for Show in a Week 2025. We are working with both the Macrobert and the RCT Production Team to identify the technical needs for the show and would hope to be able to confirm this by the end of the March.
If you’d like your child(ren) to be considered for a backstage role, please complete the interest form, which is now open. We will then contact you in May to let you know if a space is available and how to register. To avoid confusion, please only add children whose preferred first choice is to join the backstage crew. If your child prefers to be on stage but does not get a place at registration, there will be a backstage option available to select on the waiting list.
Please be aware that only those heading into S1 or above will be considered for a backstage role.
